SEO KEYWORD TECHNIQUES FOR BEGINNERS

Guys keywords are one of the important items in SEO and I won’t waste your time by defining keywords or by giving you long lectures about what keywords are? As you guys are already into SEO, so you must have heard about what keywords are. I’ll just give you a small example about keywords. Suppose you own a website about dog adoption (for example: dog_adopt.net), if people will search for your site in the search engine, what will be the probable keywords they will be using to search your site? Obviously they won’t be using keywords like fish, cat or snake. The probable keywords will be like:

1.Adopt a Puppy

2.Adopt Dog

3.Site to Adopt a Dog

In this blog ill make things easy and short for you. I will tell you about some free keyword tools and how to use them to get the desired result. We will also discuss about how to perform keyword research and what are the best and free keyword research tools available in the internet and how to use them.

1.       KEYWORD RESEARCH

 Keyword research is done to choose appropriate keywords relevant to our website. For                               example this blog contains content about SEO tools, keywords, now you can easily guess what search strings (or keywords) will be used to search this blog. You can also try out GOOGLE KEYWORD TOOL to get relevant keywords for your website. Just visit the site and type in  appropriate keywords related to your website content, you will get a bunch of similar keywords with monthly or yearly search volume. Choose a keyword with medium search volume as there will be high competition with higher search volume keywords, so it is better to choose a keyword with medium search volume to get an easy visibility in the search engine. Always choose a keyword that fits into your websites theme. You can also use Websites Keywords Suggestion Tools to search for relevant keywords for your websites. If you will search in the internet you will get many free keyword research tools.Do not waste too much of your time in keyword research like I did. Just grab few relevant keywords for your website and move on to keyword placement.

Keyword placement means placing right keywords in the right places for example: placing keywords in websites title page is correct keyword placement. We will discuss about keyword placement later in this blog.  

  

2.       IMPORTANT KEYWORD TOOLS-

Keyword Density Checker-Once we have chosen a keyword or keywords for our websites, the next step will be to use those keywords in our websites content. Now too much use of keywords in the content may lead to keyword stuffing and there are serious penalties for keyword stuffing like search engines can ban your websites for too much keyword stuffing without giving you any prior notice. So to avoid this we will use a tool called Keyword Density Checker. Keyword Density checker checks the number of times a particular keyword appears in the website’s page. Normal density is 5-10% for major keywords and 3-5% for minor keywords. There is a website called WEBCONFS.COM which has a free density checker tool . WEBCONFS.COM has many other keyword tools to help SEO beginners to optimize their sites easily for free.

              3. KEYWORD PLACEMENT-

A.      Use of keywords in the Page Title-This is one thing which I religiously follow. As titles get displayed in the search engine, it is better to use keywords in the title of the page so that it (keyword) could get an instant visibility in the search engine.

B.      Use of keyword in the Headings-I always break my blogs into headings and sub headings, as headings separates paragraphs into different topics, it becomes easy for me to use my keywords in the headings and sub headings. One of its main advantage is that it helps me to use my keywords efficiently without any keyword stuffing. It is better to use short headings as long headings may spread on 2-3 lines, which won’t look good, so it’s better to avoid long headings if possible.

But why do some websites top the search engine ranking while other websites that also contains answers to our query do not get a first page ranking in the search engine??This is because the top ranking websites have been optimized according to search engines as well as our requirements (or queries) to get a higher rank in the search engine result pages(SERPs).Now what have been optimized and how they (top ranking websites) did that? These websites have optimized their contents and website architecture so well, that they got higher page ranking in search engines. These websites uses a powerful marketing technique called SEO which optimizes and analyzes websites to get a good ranking in the search engine.SEO is an ongoing process which the web masters have to follow religiously to help their websites get a higher ranking in the search engine.SEO is not at all difficult if you understand it properly. You don’t have to be a computer programmer or you don’t need to have a special knowledge of algorithms to become a good search engine optimizer (SEO specialists). You just need a basic understanding of how the search engines work. Once you will understand the working of a search engine, your next step will be to learn the SEO techniques and implement them into your website or blog to optimize your site for a higher ranking in search engines.

2. How search engine works
Working of a Search Engine can be divided into 5 simple steps for easy understanding. These steps are-

B.INDEXING
C.PROCESSING
D.CALCULATING RELEVANCY
E.RETRIEVING
A.CRAWLING-There are millions of websites in the internet. How search engines find these websites?
Search engine uses special software called CRAWLER (often called a robot or spider).These crawlers crawls the web pages of the websites and finds content of the websites. A crawler basically sees the textual content of the website. Once crawling is done the next step will be indexing.
B.INDEXING- Indexing basically stores the crawled documents (or content) of the websites into the search engines giant database from where it can be used (or retrieved) later
C.PROCESSING-Whenever we are entering a search query in the search engines browser it (i.e. search engine) starts checking out the search query (or keyword) with the indexed pages (or websites) saved in its database.
D. RELEVANCY As there are high chances that many indexed websites (or pages) will contain the same search query (or keyword), the search engine will start calculating the relevancy of the indexed pages (or websites) according to our search requirements so that we get the best possible result for our search query.
Search engines follow various algorithms to calculate the relevancy of the websites (or pages) which we will discuss on later
E.RETRIEVING-Once the relevancy of webpage (or websites) is calculated, the search engine displays the relevant result in the Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs).This is called Retrieving.
